About

We are the Valley City Congregational United Church of Christ.

The United Church of Christ was formed in in 1957 when several protestants churches united. These churches included the German Reformed Church, which followed Calvinist beliefs, The Evangelical Synod, which follow Lutheran beliefs, The Congregational Church, which followed Calvin, Puritan and Congregational beliefs, and the Christian Churches. The UCC is interested in uniting with other churches in fulfillment of the great prayer of Jesus, “That they may all be one.”

The Valley City Congregational United Church of Church was formed in 1881 and has been providing worship and service opportunities ever since. We are a non-dogmatic and non-doctrinarian faith. This means we do not have one creed that you must abide by to be a member of our congregation. Instead, we are a covenanted faith, which means that we promise to be a Beloved Community of the People of God who promise to care for and love one another. We continue to be “congregational” in that it is the local church that makes all the decisions about its activities and structure. We are supported by the General Synod of the UCC which speaks to the whole UCC and oversees its worldwide work.

You are invited to come to our worship service at 10:30am on Sunday and see what we are all about. We will try not to overwhelm you with our abundant and enthusiastic welcome.

No matter who you are,
or where you are on life’s journey,
You are welcomed in this church
